How to Choose a Course and Country for Studying Abroad (2026): 5 Questions Every Student from Hisar Should Answer First
Quick answer
Choose the course before the country and the country before the consultant. Answer five questions in order: what your last qualification actually allows you to study; what job the course leads to; which countries accept your marks, gap and age without an English test; what the full three years cost, not just year one; and which intake you can realistically make. On the eight routes counselled at Dreams Destination Immigration in Hisar, a 12th-pass student with a gap points to Moldova, Russia or Belarus; a graduate wanting an English-taught EU degree to Latvia, Lithuania or Slovenia; a tight budget or quick decision to Mauritius or Singapore.
Every week a student walks into our Hisar office having already decided the country — because a cousin went there, or a hoarding promised "Europe without IELTS" — and only then asks what they could study. That is backwards, and it is the most expensive mistake in overseas education.
Here are the five questions we answer with every student at Red Square Market, in order. Answer them honestly and the country usually chooses itself.
Question 1: What am I actually eligible to study?
Your last completed qualification decides the level:
| Last qualification | What you can enter |
|---|---|
| 10th pass | Language course, then diploma (Russia, Belarus) |
| 12th pass | Language year then bachelor's (Russia, Belarus, Moldova); diploma (Singapore, Mauritius); bachelor's with a good profile (Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia) |
| Bachelor's | Master's (Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia); second bachelor's or diploma elsewhere |
Then marks, gap and age. About 50% marks is accepted on several routes; a gap of up to 15 years is fine for Moldova and 5–7 years for the Baltics and Slovenia; the Russia route is for students up to 27. See study visa with a gap for the detail.
Write down what you qualify for today. Everything else is built on that line.
Question 2: What job does this course lead to?
A degree is three years and several lakh rupees. Ask what you will be employable as at the end — and where.
- Design, teaching, law, economics, logistics — Russia's bachelor's programs after the language year.
- Business, IT and engineering, English-taught, EU-recognised — Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia.
- Hospitality, tourism, business management, entrepreneurship — Mauritius one-year diplomas, strong for hotel and travel careers.
- A fast, low-cost diploma to upgrade a profile — Singapore, 6 + 6 months.
If the honest answer is "I just want to go abroad", say so. There are routes for that too, but you should choose them knowingly.
Question 3: Which countries accept my profile without an English test?
All eight we counsel for — but in different ways:
| Route | How English is handled |
|---|---|
| Russia, Belarus, Moldova | You start with a language course; no IELTS/PTE |
| Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia | Online interview or the university's own English check |
| Singapore, Mauritius | English-medium diplomas, no test score filed |
So "no IELTS" does not narrow the list. Your marks, gap and budget do.
Question 4: What can I afford — for the whole course, not year one?
First-year packages on our routes are ₹2–5 lakh including one year of tuition (Mauritius about ₹2 lakh). But a bachelor's runs three years. Ask for:
- Year-one package, written.
- Tuition for years two and three.
- Living cost per month in that city.
- What part-time work is legally allowed and what it realistically pays.
A family that can fund year one but not year two should pick a one-year diploma or a cheaper country, not hope. How fees split between direct costs and the consultant: visa consultant fees in Hisar.
Question 5: Which intake can I realistically make?
- September — Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Russia, Belarus. Start by April or May.
- April — Mauritius. Start by November.
- Rolling / fast — Singapore (about 20 days), Russia and Belarus (about 45 days).
Missing an intake by two weeks costs a full year. Start from the documents checklist today, even if you have not chosen the country.
Putting it together: four Hisar profiles
| Profile | Likely answer |
|---|---|
| 12th pass, 3–10 year gap, ~50% marks, wants a degree | Moldova — no interview, Sept intake |
| 12th pass, under 27, wants a big-city university, no English test | Russia or Belarus — language year first |
| Graduate, wants an English-taught EU degree and EU job market | Latvia, Lithuania or Slovenia |
| Tight budget, wants to leave in weeks, hotel/business career | Mauritius (April) or Singapore (fast diploma) |

The questions to ask the consultant
Once you have answered the five questions, ask the consultant these five:
- Which university, and can I see the offer letter format?
- What is the total for the whole course, and how much of it is your fee?
- When is your fee due — before or after the visa?
- What happens to the money if the visa is refused?
- How many students did you send to this country last intake?
A consultant who answers all five in writing is counselling you. One who starts with "which country do you want?" is selling. How we work: overseas education consultant in Hisar.
Hisar ke students ke liye short version (Hinglish)
- Pehle course, phir desh, phir consultant. Cousin kahan gaya, usse aapka course tay nahi hota.
- Last qualification dekho — 10th, 12th ya graduation — wahi tay karta hai kya padh sakte ho.
- Marks, gap, umar: Moldova 15 saal gap aur ~50%; Baltics 5–7 saal gap; Russia 27 tak.
- IELTS kisi route mein nahi, isliye desh "no IELTS" se nahi, budget aur profile se chuno.
- Teen saal ka kharcha poochho, sirf pehle saal ka nahi.
- September ke liye April–May mein shuru karo, April ke liye November mein.

Frequently asked questions
Should I choose the country or the course first?
The course. Decide what you want to study and work as, then shortlist countries whose rules accept your profile for that course. Students who pick the country first often end up in a course they never wanted.
Which country is best for a 12th-pass student with a gap?
On our routes, Moldova accepts a gap of up to 15 years with about 50% marks and no interview; Russia (up to age 27) and Belarus start with a language year. Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia accept a 5–7 year gap but suit graduates or strong 12th-pass profiles.
Which country is cheapest to study abroad from India?
Among the eight we counsel for, Mauritius is the lowest first-year package at about ₹2 lakh including tuition, airport pickup and a month's accommodation, followed by Singapore's short diploma with a low processing cost. Compare the full course length, not just year one.
Do I need IELTS to study abroad?
Not on any of the eight routes we file. Russia, Belarus and Moldova begin with a language course; Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia use an interview or the university's own English check; Singapore and Mauritius run English-medium diplomas.
What should I ask an overseas education consultant in Hisar?
Which university, and can I see the offer letter format; what is the total for the whole course, not year one; how much of it is your fee and when is it due; what happens if the visa is refused; how many students did you send to this country last intake.
When should I start for the September intake?
By April or May. Documents, apostille, admission and the visa file take two to three months on most routes. For the April intake, start by November.
